53 nations, Int'l agencies confirm participation in Nepal's reconstruction conference

About 53 nations and international agencies have confirmed the participation in " International Conference on Nepal's Reconstruction 2015" to be held in Nepal on Thursday.

The Nepalese government informed Tuesday that all the preparations of one-day conference have been completed, which will have the participation of 239 foreign delegates.

"We are hopeful that the conference will be helpful in raising the funds in form of financial grants and concessional loans," Minister for Finance Ram Sharan Mahat addressed the press.

The conference is being organized to raise financial support from governments and international donor organizations for rebuilding the country which was hit by a massive earthquake on April 25, killing more than 8700 people.

According to the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) report, Nepalese government needs 669.50 billion Rupees (about 65.8 million U.S. dollars) in total for the reconstruction and recovery process.

Ministers from seven countries including China and India have already confirmed the participation in the conference along with the Presidents of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Asian development Bank (ADB), vice-president of World Bank and under General Secretary of UN.

Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Minister for Foreign Affairs said, " This conference is not only for pledging fund but also to share expertise and ideas for building better future." Endi
