Algeria condemns Boko Haram's deadly attack in Niger

Xinhua, June 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Condemning Wednesday's terrorist attacks targeting civilians in Diffa, Niger, Algeria on Friday expressed sympathy for the victims' families and its solidarity with the people and government of Niger.

"Algeria condemns in the strongest terms the bloody terrorist attacks that targeted the villages of Lamana and Ngoumao, in Diffa," Algeria's official APS news agency quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdelaziz Benali Cherif as saying.

"These bloody attacks were committed on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, which reflect the hideous and cowardly face of terrorism," he said.

"We extend our compassion to the families of the victims and stand in solidarity with the people and government of Niger in their fight against terrorism," the spokesman said.

Local media reported that Boko Haram militants raided two villages in southern Niger on Wednesday night, killing more than 30 civilians, most of them women and children. Enditem
