Albania's local elections set for Sunday

Local elections will kick off in Albania on Sunday with voters to elect their mayors and municipal council members.
These will be the seventh local elections held in Albania since 1991. The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Albania is administrating the elections.
According to the official data of CEC, Albanian citizens will vote for 61 new mayors and 1,595 municipal councillors.
A total of 62 political parties are officially registered with the CEC to compete in the electoral race, 57 of which are grouped into two coalitions.
The left-center coalition headed by the Socialist Party, the "Alliance for European Albania" includes 37 parties, while the right-wing coalition "People's Alliance for jobs and dignity", led by the Democratic Party includes 15 parties.
Out of 61 registered candidates for mayors nationwide, 15 are female. Some 3,382,295 voters are eligible to cast their votes. Enditem
