Spanish transfer market continues to tick over

Xinhua, June 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Spanish transfer market continues to move, even though the new season doesn't kick off until Aug. 15.

Europa League champions, Sevilla, who have qualified for next season's Champions League as a result of their title are closing in on signing former Chelsea forward Gail Kakuta on a four year deal.

Kakuta, who spent a successful loan deal with Rayo Vallecano last season has cost around 4 million U.S. dollars from Chelsea and has agreed a four year contract to become Sevilla's second summer signing after the arrival of former Celta midfielder Khron-Dehli.

Villarreal will strengthen their squad with the arrival of attacking duo Samu Castillejo and Samu Garcia from Malaga.

Malaga have also sold Spain international striker Juanmi to English Premier League side, Southampton and although the club have renewed the contract of veteran midfielder Duda for a further year, the departure of three of their most talented players for the moment has severely weakened their attacking options.

Eibar appear to be on the verge of confirming Jose Luis Mendilibar as the replacement for Gaizka Garitano as coach for next season.

Garitano said he would not carry on after the club was relegated after the last game of the season and although Elche's financial problems appear to have granted the Basque outfit a reprieve, the club has decided that Garitano's three years in change should not continue.

Mendilibar, who was sacked by Levante early last season, coached Eibar 10 years ago leding them to an impressive fifth place finish in the second division.

Finally striker Iago Aspes has repeated a round trip to return to Celta Vigo, the club he left two years ago to sign for Liverpool. After failing at Liverpool, Apses had a year on loan at Sevilla and now returns to the club where he spent most his career. Endi
