Uganda Cranes coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has named his final 18-man team that will face Tanzania on Saturday in a 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier in Zanzibar.
"I have picked lots of players from the U-23 Olympic team and am sure they will do a good job in this first leg," the Serbia-born coach told Xinhua.
Sredojevic said although he is confident his boys will play their hearts out, he respects Tanzania and will not take them for granted. "They have lost four International matches in one month now and will be hungry to bounce back," the coach said of the Tanzanian team.
Former Turkish-based professional Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, who won the Uganda Cup trophy with SC Villa on Tuesday, has been picked to captain the team because of his experience.
"I have picked Mawanda because he has good leadership qualities and experience," added the coach.
Striker Farouk Miya who netted the lone goal away to Nigeria in an International friendly in March this year is also part of the team together with Robert Ssentongo who was top scorer in the just ended 2014/2015 Uganda Premier League (UPL).
The CHAN tournament is meant for African players featuring in clubs in their respective countries. Uganda featured in the 2011 and 2014 events held in Sudan and South Africa respectively.
