Portuguese police seized 850 kg of hashish on board a speedboat on Wednesday, the country's Criminal Police said.

The speedboat carrying the drug was found in Vilamoura, Algarve, around 260 km south of Lisbon.

The criminal police said in a statement posted on its official website that three men were identified and four vehicles were seized along with around 2,300 euros (2,607 U.S. dollars) in cash and diverse communication material.

The detained men, all foreign nationals, are aged between 20 and 42 and will attend a first hearing where necessary enforcement measures will be taken.

The seizure followed a "complex investigation" lasting several months by local police. Endit
