British FTSE 100 closes flat on Tuesday

FTSE 100 Index, Britain's benchmark stock market gauge, dipped by a slight 0.01 percent, or 0.42 points, to 6,710.10 points on Tuesday.

The London stock index closed almost flat on Tuesday as investors sought out bargains after the stock markets dropped to a five-month intraday low.

British American Tobacco's share price increased by 2.92 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Barratt Developments, Imperial Tobacco Group, Centrica and Taylor Wimpey increased by 2.27 percent, 2.24 percent, 2.06 percent and 1.91 percent respectively.

Randgold Resources led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 2.68 percent, followed by Ashtead Group (2.66 percent), Anglo American (2.23 percent), Rio Tinto (2.17 percent) and Antofagasta (2.13 percent). Endit
