10 top-notch UK stage plays to screen in China

Xinhua, June 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

The National Theatre of Britain will show 10 stage plays in Beijing and Shanghai beginning on Friday, according to National Theatre Company of China (NTCC) on Tuesday.

The recorded dramas will be shown as part of the National Theatre Live in China program. Performances include Hamlet, King Lear and Of Mice and Men. The screening is part of the Sino-British culture year activities.

The UK will contribute recordings of its top-ranking actors and stage directors, such as Chinese favorite Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, John Lee Miller and Danny Boyle.

China's theatre industry hopes to learn the recording methods and promotion ideas from British theatres to improve live performances of Chinese plays, said Zhou Yuyuan, director of the NTCC. Endi
