Singapore surpasses its previous best haul in SEA Games

All matches in the 28th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) completed on Tuesday with Thailand leading the medal tally, following by host Singapore, and Vietnam.

Thailand, the regional kingpins, has garnered 95 gold, 83 silver and 69 bronze medals until Tuesday. For performing above and beyond what was expected of them, the Singaporean team have gained 84-73-102. Vietnam ranked third with 73-53-60.

Performance of the Singaporean team has surpassed its previous best haul of 50-40-74 when SEA Games were last held on home soil in 1993. The contingent has also posted 25 Games records, 29 new national marks, and 74 personal bests.

Chef de mission of Tan Eng Liang and Nicholas Fang said in a joint statement that Team Singapore has put in fantastic efforts to make this a successful SEA Games. They have inspired the entire nation and it's a great way to mark Singapore's Golden Jubilee.

The closing ceremony of the 28th SEA Games will start on Tuesday night.
