France reports fewer new firms in May

Xinhua, June 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

The number of new enterprises in France declined by 1.8 percent in May from a month earlier as uncertainty over a sustainable growth kept investors on edge, French national statistics Insee said on Tuesday.

Last month, France registered 42,899 enterprises birth, down from 43,666 new start-ups created in April, mainly due to falling investment in all the sectors, with transportation and storage recorded the heaviest decline of 21.5 percent, the Insee monthly report showed.

Excluding self-managed enterprises (seasonally and working-day adjusted data), births of enterprises inched up by 0.7 percent to 24,920 over the period.

On yearly basis, creation of new companies fell by 1.3 percent, it added. Endit
