At least 71 people were killed on Monday in U.S.-led coalition airstrikes and clashes between the Iraqi security forces and militants of Islamic State (IS) group in the provinces of Anbar, Nineveh and Salahudin, an official and security sources said.

In Anbar province, the security forces and allied militias, known as Hashd Shaabi, or Popular Mobilization, attacked a convoy of IS vehicles at Houran area in Iraq's western desert and destroyed three tankers carrying fuel and two vehicles, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in a statement. JOHANNESBURG -- The South African government "now has reliable information" that Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir has already departed the country, an official source said on Monday.

Al-Bashir's departure "will be fully investigated", Lawyer William Mokhari, who represents the South African government before the High Court in Pretoria. (South Africa-Sudan)

ABUJA -- At least 11 people were killed Monday in twin blasts in the Potiskum city of Nigeria's northeastern state of Yobe, sources at the state-run general hospital told Xinhua.

The twin blasts, suspected to be perpetration of two suicide bombers of the Boko Haram group, targeted an office of a local security outfit and a pub in Potiskum, the largest commercial town in Yobe State, said a senior medical staff who preferred to be anonymous. (Nigeria-Blasts)

N'DJAMENA -- At least 25 people were killed and dozens of others injured Monday in two suicide blasts targeting police, sources from the police and a hospital told Xinhua.

The two heavy explosions, whose origin is not yet known, were heard on Monday morning in front of a police station and a national police school in N'Djamena. (Chad-Blasts)
