A senior Al-Shabaab leader was killed Friday night in a covert operation by Somali army in the southern region, officials said Saturday.

NEW YORK -- Hillary Clinton on Saturday took to a stage in New York City's Roosevelt Island and officially kicked off her 2016 run for the presidency, calling for a new era of shared prosperity in America.

HOUSTON -- Police in the northern Texas city of Dallas confirmed Saturday that the driver who opened fire on police officers outside the department's headquarters has died.

Dallas police said the driver of an armored van had been shot by a police sniper about 5 a.m. local time on Saturday while engaging in a standoff with officers at a fast food restaurant in Hutchins, about 20.8 km from the department's headquarters, local ABC13 TV reported. (US-Gunman-Police )

KHARTOUM -- The UN refugee agency said on Saturday that more than 14,000 South Sudanese civilians had fled to Sudan during the past two weeks due to the violence in their home country's oil-rich areas.

"In the last week we have an influx of about 7,000, and in the last two weeks about 14,000 arriving and that's considered an emergency within an emergency," said Ann Encontre, UNHCR's regional refugee coordinator for South Sudan, in a statement. (South Sudan-Refugees)
