Defending champions Japan beat Cameroon 2-1 at the Women's World Cup in Canada on Friday.

Aya Sameshima scored for Japan just six minutes into the game. About 10 minutes later, Yuika Sugasawa made it 2-0.

The African girls refused to give up the game, and their tenacious efforts paid off when Ajara Nchout grabbed a consolation goal in the 91st minute.

Cameroon, who had swept Ecuador 6-0 in its first Group C match on Monday, will meet Switzerland next Tuesday when Japan is to play against Ecuador. Endi
