Valencia sign Brazilian defender for 12.5 million euros

Xinhua, June 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sao Paulo have confirmed the sale of highly rated center-back Rodrigo Caio to Valencia.

The 21-year-old, who can also play in midfield, joins the Spanish club for an initial fee of 12.5 million euros with a further four million euros in performance-based add-ons.

"He will travel to Spain on Monday where he will undergo a medical and sign a contract," Sao Paulo said on their official website.

Caio, capped by Brazil's under-20, under-21 and under-23 teams, was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid last year before suffering a serious knee injury.

His move to Valencia comes a week after the club secured Andre Gomes from Benfica following the midfielder's successful loan spell at the Mestalla last season. Endi
