Two ruled out of Zambia Africa Cup qualifier vs Guinea Bissau

Xinhua, June 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two key players of Zambia national soccer team have been ruled out of the 2017 qualifier against Guinea Bissau due to injuries, the country's soccer governing body said on Friday.

Central defender Stopilla Sunzu and striker Evans Kangwa have been ruled out of Saturday's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after checks revealed that they will not be fit to play.

Team doctor Joseph Kabungo told the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) website that Sunzu was expected to be out of action for at least two weeks due to a knee injury he picked up during a training session.

The China-based defense kingpin has strained ligaments on his left knee while the striker has a groin injury, he added.

"He (Sunzu) will need at least two weeks. He will need constant reviews in between and we have to make sure that his knee gets back to its normal shape in that period," he said.

He further said Kangwa is also expected to be out for two weeks.

Zambia are in Group E alongside Congo Brazzaville, Kenya and Guinea Bissau. Endi
