Netherlands without Clasie to Latvia

Xinhua, June 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Dutch national football team left for Riga, Latvia on Thursday without Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie, who suffers from g astroenteritis.

Clasie will therefore not be able to participate in Friday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia in Riga. Last Friday in the friendly against the United States in Amsterdam (3-4 loss) he was in the starting line-up, but he was not expected to start against the Latvians.

On Tuesday The Netherlands already lost defender Ron Vlaar due to a calf injury. "Oranje" traveled to Riga with 21 players. On Thursday evening the Dutch will train in the Skonto stadium, where they will play on Friday as well.

The Netherlands are in third place in Group A and would have to play playoffs if the qualification cycle ended today. Only the third placed team with the best adjusted record will advance directly to the final tournament. Endi
