Netherlands cautious before game against China

Xinhua, June 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Netherlands expected a tough game against dangerous China in the second Women's World Cup game.

Roger Reijners, head coach of the Netherlands, hinted that China's solid defense could cause his side some problems.

"They are a very well-organised squad, very well organised specifically in defence. They are a young team with a lot of talents, they have two good strikers. It could be a tough game we have to play," he said.

China, whose dogged defense kept Canada at bay throughout the regular 90 minutes, lost 1-0 due to a stoppage-time penalty scored by Christine Sinclair on Saturday in the World Cup opener.

China's defense left Dutch forward Manon Melis impressed.

"They are a very talented side, very well organised, and are very very dangerous opponents to play against," she said.

"This game could not be taken slightly. China have two fast forwards. We have to play tight good possession game, and try to attack as much as possible," she said.

The Netherlands, who beat New Zealand 1-0 on Saturday, are better-positioned than China to qualify for the knock-out stage. Endi
