Zambia drops national soccer team coach

Xinhua, June 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Zambia' s soccer governing body has dropped national soccer team coach Honor Janza and replaced him with another local coach, a statement obtained by Xinhua on Tuesday said.

Honor Janza has since reverted back to his substantive duty of technical director at the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

According to a statement posted on the official FAZ website, George Lwandamina has been appointed as new acting coach and will be assisted by three local coaches.

"Lwandamina assumes the job immediately and his first assignment is the Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match between Zambia and Guinea Bissau, to be played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday 13 June 2015," the statement said.

Janza was appointed as caretaker coach of the national soccer team last year following the departure of Frenchman Patrice Beamuelle. His last match with the national team was a friendly match against Ethiopia last Sunday which Zambia won 1-0. Endi
