NATO military exercises "Noble Jump" start in Poland

Xinhua, June 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

On Tuesday the first airplanes taking part in NATO Spearhead "Noble Jump" exercises landed on Poland's Zielona Gora/Babimost Airport located in Western Poland.

The aim of the exercises is to check the operational capabilities of the NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force in conditions as close as possible to real-life military conflict.

The exercises are aimed to demonstrate that the NATO forces are ready to react in any kind of crisis, that they can move very quickly and that NATO member states are united.

But, as emphasized by lieutenant colonel Marek Pietrzak from General Leadership of Polish Armed Forces, "the exercises' scenario is not based on any factual events in any particular state."

The main phase of the exercises takes place on Zagan-Swietoszow training ground.

The NATO Spearhead exercises involve both aircraft landings as well as wheeled transporters, brought to Poland from the Czech Republic, Norway and the Netherlands by land and by trains.

Over 2,100 soldiers take part in the exercises, which will last until June 19. Endit
