IS-affiliated militants take over major power plant in northern Libya

The Islamic State (IS) affiliated militants on Tuesday took over a power plant in northern coastal city of Sirte in Libya, according to the group and a military source.
"The Caliphate soldiers stormed the power plant, where the infidels of Libya Dawn were stationed. They took over the plant with the will and power of God," the group said in a statement in social media.
The IS affiliated militants added that they completely seized whole Sirte city.
The military source from Libya Dawn confirmed the lost of the power plant, added that the attack by IS killed four people and wounded ten others.
Libya has been suffering increasing violence ever since the fall of Libya's former leader Muammar Gaddafi regime in 2011.
The North African country is plagued with continuous fighting and clashes between rival armed factions.
Some extremist groups like IS and Ansar al-Sharia have been taking the chance to expand filling the security vacuum. Endit
