Indian police arrest Delhi's law minister over fake university degree

Xinhua, June 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian police Tuesday arrested Delhi's Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar in connection with his fake law degree, sources said.

"Tomar has been arrested after the Delhi Police late Monday night booked him for possessing a fake university degree in law. He will be produced in a court later in the day," the sources said.

The law minister's arrest came after Delhi's Lieutanant Governor Najeeb Jung approved his arrest over the fake degree row.

Tomar of the anti-corruption Aam Aadmi Party had claimed while filing nomination for contesting Delhi elections that he possesses a law degree, but subsequent probe found that it was a fake. Endi
