Burundian police on Friday shot dead one demonstrator and seriously injured another here in protests against President Pierre Nkurunziza's third term bid.

"The incident occurred today (Friday) morning at the First Avenue at Musaga during clashes between hundreds of protesters and police agents. One protester died on the spot after he was shot and another one was seriously injured," a witness, who declined to be named, told Xinhua. (Burundi-Protest)

LAGOS -- Nigerian troops in restive northeast state of Borno has succeeded in repelling Boko Haram terrorist attack on Shetimari area of the state, a military spokesperson said on Friday.

ATHENS -- Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras requested a viable comprehensive solution to the five- year Greek debt crisis on Friday, rejecting the "irrational" proposals tabled by international creditors.

UNITED NATIONS -- The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare will conduct a joint mission following a recent outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in the country, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters here Friday.

"The WHO team will be led by assistant director-general for health security, Dr. (Keiji) Fukuda, and will comprise experts in various fields and who have handled such outbreaks in the Middle East," Dujarric said at a daily news briefing. (WHO-MERS-S.Korea)
