Togo gets new Prime Minister

Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe has appointed Selom Komi Klassou as the country's new prime minister, to succeed Seleagodji Ahoomey-Zunu who handed in his resignation on May 22, said an official release reaching Xinhua Friday.

Klassou, a key member of the ruling party Union for the Republic (UNIR), used to serve as minister of Sports and of Primary Education.

Faure Gnassingbe won the April 25 presidential election with 58. 77 percent of the vote to get his third term of office, defeating his main challenger Jean-Pierre Fabre, who gained 35.19 percent of the vote. Endite
