Tokyo stocks close 0.35 pct higher on overseas markets gains

Tokyo stocks rose 0.35 percent on Thursday morning following gains in European, U.S. markets overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 72.03 points, from Wednesday to end the morning at 20,545.54. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 6. 39 points, or 0.38 percent, at 1,676.38.

Gainers were led by insurance, securities and glass and ceramics issues. Endi
