Albania registers increase in domestic investment

Xinhua, June 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Domestic investment in the Albanian economy increased during the first four months of 2015, Albanian Daily News reported Wednesday.

According to the Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), the import value of machinery and equipment amounted to 34.1 billion leke (273 million U.S. dollars) from January through April, up 19.2 percent compared to the same period of 2014, which indicates that investment continues to prosper this year.

Meanwhile, public investment increased as well in 2015.

According to the Ministry of Finance, during the first quarter of this year, the value of capital expenditure was approximately 8.8 billion leke (70 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 19 percent compared to the same period of 2014.

Besides the direct impact on economic growth, these increases in investment will drive an expansion of manufacturing capacity and therefore form the basis for higher economic growth in the upcoming years. Endi
