1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close mixed Wednesday

Xinhua, June 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese shares closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.01 percent to finish at 4,909.98 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.30 percent to close at 17,538.50 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, expanded 2.07 percent to end at 3,982.25 points.

Total turnover on the two bourses expanded to 2.02 trillion yuan (330.23 billion U.S. dollars) from the previous trading day. About 250 shares rose by the daily limit of 10 percent.

Chen Wei, an analyst with CITIC Securities, said the Shanghai stock market this week has recovered losses from a 6.5-percent dive on May 28.

Twenty-three companies are scheduled to start taking IPO subscriptions this week. The subscriptions will attract liquidity and thus the market will not see sharp rises in the short term, Chen said. Endi
