Barca agree new Alba deal

Xinhua, June 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

FC Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that the club has reached an agreement to extend the contract of Spain international left back, Jordi Alba until the end of June 2020.

The club confirmed the 26-year-old defender, who joined from Valencia in 2012 will put pen to paper on his new deal in "the next few days."

The new contract will raise Alba's buyout clause to 150 million euros, around 165 million US dollars.

Alba, who is a fast attacking defender, made 44 appearances in his first season, but last year injuries limited him to just 26 appearances.

After an indifferent World Cup last summer, this season has seen Alba return to his best form and he has played 43 games, scoring twice as the club have won the Spanish league and Cup and qualified for Saturday's Champions League final against Juventus. Endite
