Tibet's tourism revenue surges nearly 40 pct

Tourism revenue in Tibet Autonomous Region surged nearly 40 percent during the first four months of this year, thanks to a 22.2-percent increase in visitors to the region during the same period.

According to the autonomous region's tourism authority, more than 1.01 million people from China and abroad visited Tibet from January to April this year, up 22.2 percent from the same period a year ago. Foreign visitors rose 17.3 percent to 23,421.

Tourism revenue rose 39.3 percent to 1.29 billion yuan (207.92 million U.S dollars) in the same period, including 15.36 million U.S. dollars from foreign visitors. Endi
