Saudi to fix CCTV cameras in mosques to prevent attack

Xinhua, May 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Saudi Arabia on Friday announced plans to fix CCTV cameras and deploy guards at all mosques in the Kingdom, according to local Al Arabiya news.

The decision was made following an earlier suicide blast targeting a Shiite mosque in the eastern city of Dammam.

Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber blew himself up at the mosque's parking lot during noon prayer when he was stopped by the guards to enter, leaving four people, including the bomber himself, dead and a number of nearby cars caught fire.

The Islamic State (IS) later claimed responsibility for the blast.

The incident came a week after a suicide bombing, for which the IS also claimed responsibility, hit a Shiite mosque during Friday prayer in Al Qatif area in eastern the Kingdom, killing 21 worshipers and injuring 101 others. Endit
