Tokyo shares gain by break on optimism over domestic firms

Tokyo shares ended the morning session higher Friday as investors remained confident in the performance of domestic firms and continued demand for stocks from the Bank of Japan and foreign investors.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rebounded 54.22 points, or 0. 26 percent, higher from Thursday to 20,605.68.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 2.90 points, or 0.17 percent, at 1,675. 66. Endi
