Vietnam's top young tennis player not to compete at SEA Games

Xinhua, May 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam who ranked the 12th in the world junior, has been allowed to withdraw from the approaching Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Singapore, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.

The 18-year-old player from the southern province of Tay Ninh jumped two spots to 12th in the world junior rankings after his entry into a clay-court tournament's quarter-finals at Trofeo Bonfiglio in Italy last week. It is the highest rank for him as well as for Vietnam.

Nam will take part in the junior competition of the French Open, to be held from May 31 to June 6 in Paris. As Nam is busy preparing for the second Grand Slam of the year, he has been allowed to withdraw from the SEA Games.

Nam has been named No.11 seed in the boys' singles event at the 2015 Roland Garros Junior French Championships, the online version of local newspaper Nhan Dan (People) reported Thursday. After the Roland Garros, he will prepare for the Wimbledon tournament matches on grass in the UK from July 4 to 10. Endit
