Singapore stocks close 1.01 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 35. 04 points, or 1.01 percent, to close at 3,424.94.

A total of 1.64 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 30 billion Singapore dollars (962.4 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 285 to 171, while 503 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 0.87 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 3, 459.98 on Tuesday. Endi
