Morocco's Hassane Ahouchar wins Copenhagen Marathon

Morocco's Hassane Ahouchar won 36th edition of the Copenhagen Marathon in 2 hours 15 minutes and 24 seconds here on Sunday.

Ethiopia's Fikadu Kebebe placed second in the men's event with a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 38 seconds, and Ahouchar's compatriot Lahcen Mokraji ended third in 2 hours 18 minutes and 50 seconds.

Meanwhile, Kenyan Nancy Jebet Koech came in first at 2 hours 33 minutes and 42 seconds in the women's category, followed by Ethiopian Mulunesh Zewedu Assafa in 2 hours 37 minutes and 6 seconds and Kenyan Hellen Jepkosgei Kimitai came in third in 2 hours 39 minutes and 5 seconds.

Established in 1980, the Copenhagen Marathon is among Northern Europe's biggest road races and is held annually in May.

Some 12,000 professional, club and recreational runners from 75 countries took part in Sunday's race, with 25 percent more foreign runners crossed the starting line as compared to 2014. Endi
