Pakistani soldier killed in border post attack

Xinhua, May 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Pakistani security man was killed in an attack by a group of militants in the Bajaur tribal region on Sunday, officials in the area said.

They said dozens of heavy armed militants attacked a border security post at "Ghakhi Pass" along the border with Afghanistan.

An official told the media that the militants fled to the Afghan side of the border after Pakistani forces returned fire.

The Islamic State or Dai'sh claimed responsibility.

The Dai'sh spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told the media by phone that the group's fighters had launched the attack at 9 a.m., local time.

Cross-border attacks have been a routine; however, a substantial decrease has been witnessed in recent months. Endi
