Indian President greets Eritrea on eve of Independence Day

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee Saturday greeted Eritrea on the eve of its Independence Day and hoped that the bilateral relations between the two countries would strengthen in the coming years.

"On behalf of the government and the people of India, and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to convey to you and the friendly people of Eritrea, my warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of your Independence Day," the Indian President said in a message to his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki.

The African nation's Independence Day falls on Sunday.

Hailing the cordial relations between the two countries, he said: "I am confident that the relations between our two countries will continue to strengthen in the coming years for the mutual benefit of our two peoples." Endi
