Guerrero set for Corinthians departure

Xinhua, May 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Corinthians are unlikely to renew the contract of Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero, the Brazilian outfit said on Friday.

According to Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade, the club cannot meet Guerrero's salary demands, reported to be 165,000 US dollars a month.

"I would like him to stay but given the club's current economic situation we are not able to agree to terms," Andrade told reporters.

"We know what he is capable of. The (asking price) is too much for Corinthians but we accept that is what he is worth. We have spoken a lot over the past few months and have tried everything."

Guerrero, whose contract expires in July, has scored 54 goals from 129 appearances since joining the Sao Paulo-based club in 2012.

Flamengo, Sao Paulo and Palmeiras have all been linked with a move for the 31-year-old. Endite
