Jobless rate in Slovakia falls to lowest level since 2009

Xinhua, May 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

The unemployment rate in Slovakia fell to 11.68 percent in April 2015, the lowest level since 2009, announced Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico at a press conference on Wednesday.

"Nevertheless, the government wants to squeeze the jobless rate further to the eurozone average, which currently stands at 11.3 percent," said Fico, adding that there were qualified prognoses from the central bank and other bodies that the unemployment rate could even fall below 11 percent next year.

The number of jobseekers in the country amounted to 315,090 in April, which was a reduction of 10,081 on the month and of 34,655 on the year (9.91 percent). Endit
