Vietnamese National Assembly's 13th tenure convenes for 9th session

The ninth session of the 13th tenure of Vietnam's National Assembly (NA) convened in capital Hanoi on Wednesday, with a focus on law building and decision for key socio- economic issues.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Sinh Hung, NA chairman said the ninth session is taking place amid complicated world political and harsh global economic situation while Vietnam is facing new opportunities and challenges.

The session is of great importance for Vietnam to review the country's current situation in socio-economics, defense, security, foreign affairs, and justice among others, said Hung.

At the session, Vietnam will also determine what to do immediately to fulfill socio-economic targets in 2015 set by the NA.

During the ongoing session, the NA will review and pass 11 law bills as well as give comments on other law bills, said Hung.

In addition, the NA will review the government's reports on supplement evaluation to result of the implementation of the 2014 socio-economic development plan and state budget as well as the implementation of those in the first months of 2015, according to the NA chairman.

Another content that will be reviewed and decided during the session is the policy to invest in Vietnam's southern Long Thanh International Airport.

This is an important project to Vietnam's southern economic region as well as to the whole country, with impacts on various sectors and areas, as well as draws great attention of local voters, said Hung.

The NA chairman added that investment phases and effectiveness of the project should be well calculated to ensure feasibility and possibility of investment mobilization, and make sure the project is in line with Vietnam's aviation development.

The ninth session of the 13th tenure of Vietnam's NA is expected to last till June 26. Endi
