Emelec beat Tigres in Libertadores quarterfinal first leg

Xinhua, May 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ecuador international striker Miller Bolanos scored a second-half header as Emelec defeated Mexico's Tigres in their Copa Libertadores quarterfinal first leg on Tuesday.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute after a brilliant piece of skill from Marcos Mondaini.

The Argentine nutmegged his opponent before his shot on goal was kept out by goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman. But the rebound lobbed into the path of Bolanos who headed in at the far post.

The result at the Estadio Jocay maintained the Ecuador outfit's unbeaten run at home in South America's top club competition this season.

The return leg will be played at Tigres' Estadio Universitario next Tuesday. Endi
