Xinhua, AFP to further cooperation in digital era

Xinhua, May 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Visiting Xinhua News Agency President Cai Mingzhao met here with his Agence France-Presse (AFP) counterpart Emmanuel Hoog on Tuesday to exchange views on transformation of news agencies in the digital era and how to deepen cooperation.

"Facing challenges of the rapid development of digital new media, traditional news agencies should explore how to transform their business fields in order to adapt themselves to provide better news products," said Cai Mingzhao.

Cai said Xinhua was willing to further explore new fields of cooperation with AFP, particularly to enhance exchange in the coverage of sports news, photo and video services.

Hoog said "AFP and Xinhua News Agency have always maintained a very close cooperation. AFP has the same perspective as Xinhua on the direction of development," adding that he was willing to cooperate further with Xinhua in various areas.

Accompanied by Hoog, Cai and his delegation made a tour of the newsrooms in AFP headquarters. Endit
