6 killed in IS attack in southern Syria

At least six people were killed Tuesday in an attack by Islamic State (IS) militants on a town in Syria's southern province of Swaida, state TV reported.
Syrian army forces backed by allied fighters foiled the IS attack on the town of al-Haqf in the eastern countryside of the predominantly-Druze Swaida, the TV quoted a military source as saying.
Many IS militants were killed and their weapons destroyed, the report said.
It was believed to be the first attack launched by the IS in the countryside of Swaida, on the road between the Jordanian border and the Syrian Desert.
The road is an important route for IS to send reinforcements to the outskirts of the ancient city of Palmyra in central Syria.
It was not immediately clear whether the IS militants infiltrated from Jordan, but Syria's Foreign Ministry unleashed a scathing criticism against Jordan on Monday, accusing Amman of supporting terrorist groups in Syria.
The Jordanian government's "overt support" for the terrorist organizations has further exacerbated the suffering of the Syrian people, the ministry said.
It noted a "glaring discrepancy" between the Jordanian government's claim of backing a political solution to the crisis and its "logistical support for terror organizations," state news agency SANA reported.
The ministry accused the Jordanian government of allowing terror organizations to take over border crossings with Syria and establishing training camps for terrorists on its territories.
It said that Jordan also facilitated the entry of thousands of al-Qaida-linked militants into Syria's border city of Daraa. Endit
