GAC-Honda in recall over brake problem

Xinhua, May 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

GAC-Honda, the joint venture between Honda and Guangzhou Automobile Group, will recall 1,121 cars due to a defective braking system, China's top quality supervisor announced on Tuesday.

The recalls involve 587 Accord models and 534 Acura models, according to a statement released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The affected Accord models were manufactured between Feb. 27, 2013 and Nov. 28, 2014, while the Acura models were made between Aug. 8, 2012 and Jan. 26, 2015.

A problem with the cars' braking software may lead to accidental activation of the brakes, said the watchdog.

Dealers will update the software free of charge. The recall will start on June 15. Endi
