At least 21 Cambodian garment workers were killed outright and several others injured in a crash between a passenger bus and a truck carrying workers on Tuesday morning in eastern Svay Rieng province, a senior police officer said.

The tragic accident happened at 6:45 a.m. (local time) in Kampong Ro district, Keong Khon, police chief of Svay Rieng province, said, adding that the two vehicles drove in an opposite direction and hit head-on, leaving the worker truck completely destroyed. "At least 21 people confirmed dead in the accident," he told Xinhua over telephone. "Several others were injured and sent to hospital soon after the accident."

Local media Cambodia Express News reported that the passenger bus traveling from Phnom Penh to Vietnam carelessly overtook another car to hit the worker truck in an opposite direction.
