Portuguese TCM students demand gov't regulate degrees

Xinhua, May 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

A group of Portuguese students and recent graduates in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have sent a letter to the secretary of state of higher education demanding their degrees be regulated, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported Friday.

"We sent a letter this week to ask for regulations to be published which should have come out a long time ago," said Vanessa Pinto, a student from Lisbon's Superior School of Health, one of the people subscribing to the letter sent to the Portuguese ministry of education and science.

The framework law on unconventional medicine was published in 2003 but the diploma was only regulated 10 years later, Lusa reported. Several decrees have been published already but the process is still ongoing.

"Decrees related to the study plan of courses have yet to be published," Pinto said, pointing out the need for their training to be legally recognized. Endit
