Prince Harry mingles with Auckland youth

Xinhua, May 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

The fifth in line to the British throne began the last leg of his New Zealand tour Friday mixing with young Pacific island students in Auckland.

Prince Harry was welcomed at a school campus in south Auckland with traditional dance performances by Tongan, Samoan and Cook Island students, Radio New Zealand reported.

He went on to visit patients at a spinal rehabilitation unit at a local hospital and then played pool and other games with teenagers at an organization that aimed to reduce and prevent youth crime.

Later Friday, Prince Harry met with Parliamentary Leader of the Opposition Andrew Little, who recently called for New Zealand to cut its ties to the monarchy and to become a republic.

After that meeting, the prince held talks with Prime Minister John Key and went on to attend a reception of organizations involved in emergency services and disaster relief.

Before flying out on Saturday, he will join young soccer players at a central Auckland event for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, which opens in New Zealand on May 30. Endi
