Uganda refuses to confirm presence of ousted Burundian president in Kampala

Ugandan government on Thursday refused to confirm nor deny reports that the ousted Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza is in the East African country for consultations with President Yoweri Museveni.

"I can neither confirm nor deny the rumors that President Nkurunziza arrived in Uganda for consultations with the president, " said Fred Opolot, Uganda's ministry of foreign affairs spokesperson.

Chimpreports, a local news agency reported here that Nkurunziza silently arrived in Uganda on Thursday morning from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where he had gone to attend a regional summit to discuss the central African country crisis.

The agency quoting anonymous sources said the Burundian military officials who supported Wednesday's coup are also in Kampala for consultations. Endi
