EAEU trade chief says to bolster cooperation with China

Xinhua, May 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

China is a very important trade and strategic partner for members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the regional bloc's trade chief said Thursday.

"We have discussed economic cooperation with the Chinese side and soon we will start negotiations on the issue," said Andrei Slepnev, top trade official of the Eurasian Economic Commission, a permanent regulatory body of the EAEU.

He told reporters that the consensus reached in the negotiations between China and the EAEU will bolster the implementation of the China-proposed Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives.

The regional economic organization is also currently negotiating with Iran, Egypt, Israel and Vietnam on establishing free trade zones, said Slepnev. Endi
