Xinhua, May 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least two Indians were among nine people killed in a seven-hour-long siege on a guesthouse in the Afghan capital by gunmen late Wednesday night, sources said Thursday.

Those killed also included an American national and some of the attackers who led the siege at the Park Palace guesthouse in Kabul 's Kolola Pushta area around 8.30 p.m. local time, opening indiscriminate fire on people who had gathered there.

Three other Indians who were in the guesthouse at the time of the attack have been rescued while one more has been missing, the sources said, adding the Indian envoy could have been the intended target as the Indian Embassy is in the same area and the Ambassador was also supposed to attend an event there.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on a three-day visit to China, has tweeted: "In the aircraft I got news about the attack in Kabul. Am concerned about the situation & I pray for everyone's safety (sic)." Endi
