China allocates 350 mln yuan for free science museums

China will allocate 350 million yuan (about 56.4 million U.S. dollars) to support the scrapping of entrance fees for selected science museums this year, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday.
The money will ensure entry into 92 selected science museums remains free of charge. There are plans that more science museums will open their doors for free from 2016.
The China Association for Science and Technology said it hoped that one day all science museums would be free to the public.
However, popular destinations, such as China Science and Technology Museum, Beijing, and Shanghai Science and Technology Museum will not be free, as there is concern that the already crowded museums would not be able to accommodate a drastic surge in visitor numbers. Endi
