Five civilians were killed and three others injured as roadside bomb struck a vehicle in Arghistan district of the southern Kandahar province on Tuesday, police spokesman in the province Zia Durani said. "A mine planted by terrorists on a road in Arghistan district struck a vehicle at around 10:00 a.m. local time today killing five people, all civilians on the spot and injuring three others including a mother and her child," Durani told Xinhua.

Taliban militants who are largely relying on suicide and roadside bombing have yet to claim responsibility.

Militancy and conflicts usually increase in spring and summer in Afghanistan commonly known as fighting season among the war- weary Afghans. Endi
